poem #16

Fault
by Myra Holmes

Today
Another tremor sent
Jagged shadows swinging and
framed faces diving from shelves.
I cower, crawl along the crack,
Mindful that the chasm
Waits to swallow my
matchstick-balanced life
yet today or perhaps
tomorrow.

One day
Promised trumpets will
Herald his coming and
Announce my arrival.
Then I will stand,
Faultless.
